At his 85th career Jeff Gordon holds off Jimmie Johnson by winning at Atlanta Motor Speedway

Jeffrey Michael ' Jeff' Gordon was born on August 4, 1971 in Vallejo, California, United States. He is a professional NASCAR Driver. He is the driver of the #24. He was sliding all over the track those final 10 laps, doing everything he could to hold off five-time defending champion Jimmie Johnson. .He win was Gordon's third this season and his fifth at Atlanta Motor Speedway.It was most important for him because it was the 85th of his career, moving him into third. He sure earned this win, fending off the defending five-time champion. Johnson put his Chevrolet in front of Gordon's No. 24 car. He had been trying hard to get this step for ten years.

Gordon, a four-time champion, had already locked up a spot in the Chase for the championship, but this performance stamped him as a prime contender to end Johnson's unprecedented title run. After taking the checkered flag for his third win of the year and 85th of his career, there was little doubt he'll be making a serious run at his fifth Cup title When Gordon held on at the end Tuesday.
