* Oliver! (1968) was the first and only G-rated film to win Best Picture.
* Midnight Cowboy (1969) was the first and only X-rated film to win Best Picture.

* The Godfather Part II (1974) was the first sequel to win Best Picture.
* The Departed (2006) was the first and only remake of an original film (Infernal Affairs) to win Best Picture.
