The third album of multi-awarded young singer Taylor Swift stormed the market with sales of up to one million units in just seven days. To make things even better, the album reached the number one spot for the US Billboard200 Album Chart.
Speak Now was released last October 25, 2010. A total of 1,047,000 units have already been sold to date, an occurrence that is not seen nowadays.
“It’s an incredibly rare feat,” said Billboard Charts Associate DirectorKeith Caulfield. “Even if you put aside the depression of the music market, and look back over the last 20 years, this has only happened 16 times, including this week. That’s already a staggeringly tiny number.”
The album carries 14 tracks with alternate versions for three songs in the international version of the album. The songs feature lyrical themes concerning love, romance and heartbreak. One song in particular, Back to December, is an apology of Swift to a former boyfriend.
Swift’s first two albums were certified hits. Her debut self-titled album in 2006 has a quadruple platinum certification while Fearless (2008) reached 6x platinum certification.
