Another pinoy, Frederick Ong who scored 1390 pinfalls,

Bowler Engelberto “Biboy” Rivera captured the Philippines’ first gold medal in the 16th Asian Games.

Biboy had a total 1414 pinfalls to win the gold medal in the Men’s Singles event.
Another pinoy, Frederick Ong who scored 1390 pinfalls, captured the bronze in the same event. A bowler from Kuwait won the silver.
This sums our medal count to 4 including the two bronze medals won by Ronnie Steeve Vergara and Charlea Lagaras in cha cha cha and paso double events of dancesports Sunday afternoon.
The Philippines’ 1 gold and 3 bronze medals currently placed us at no. 11 among 22 countries which at least won a medal. We are one notch behind Malaysia (the best performing Southeast Asian country so far), which is currenty at no. 10 with 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals.
China, as expected, is still in the lead of the leaderboard with 71 gold medals followed by South Korea with 22, and Japan with 15.
The Philippine team hopes to improve the 4-6-9 gold-silver-bronze haul of 2006 in Doha, Qatar.
