Christina Aguilera has joined more than 2,000 other celebrities to have their names immortalized along the famous Hollywood Boulevard, getting her own Walk of Fame star in a ceremony on Monday.
The Grammy winning singer and budding actress said the honor of having her own star is a fulfilment of a dream. “As a young girl in Pittsburgh, I often imagined what it would be like to come to Hollywood and make it as a performer,” Aguilera said in a speech. “We would go from audition to audition and I would sing anthem after anthem … hoping one day it would all pay off. Standing here at this moment I know that it has paid off in spades.”
The unveiling of Aguilera’s star comes just over a week before her feature film debut. The 29-year-old singer is set to appear in the musical film “Burlesque.” Aguilera plays a small-town girl who tries her luck at a Los Angeles burlesque club. Co-starring with Aguilera in the film by Steve Antin is Academy Award-winner Cher.
